Lotus Pure Land Print – A precious painting chosen by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha as a gift for the President of Sri Lanka
“Lien Hoa Tinh Canh” – an oil painting masterpiece by artist Kim Duc, created in 2022 – is not only an artistically excellent lotus painting, but also a profound symbol of compassion and wisdom in Buddhism. With a harmonious composition, soft lines and spiritual depth, the painting takes viewers into a pure world, where each lotus petal seems to be breathing, exuding a pure fragrance and the echo of the distant temple bell.
More than just a work of art, “The Lotus Pure Land” is also a vivid message of awareness and compassion, of the ability to transform suffering into happiness, like the way the lotus rises from the mud to bloom pure in life. These are also the core values that the United Nations Vesak Day aims for.

Because of these special values, the painting “Lotus Pure Land” was recently respectfully chosen by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha as a diplomatic gift to present to President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka of Sri Lanka – a country with a long-standing Buddhist tradition – on the occasion of his visit to the United Nations Vesak 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City. The gift not only shows the affection and respect between the two countries, but is also a symbol of cultural and spiritual exchange, contributing to strengthening the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Sri Lanka on the basis of the common values of Buddhism.
Previously, “Lien Hoa Tinh Canh” was blessed by His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch, Vice Supreme Patriarch and President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa, Supreme Patriarch of Myanmar Buddhism, and displayed at the 9th National Buddhist Congress and the 2023 Vietnamese Lotus Art Exhibition – Pure Beauty. The work was highly appreciated by UNESCO, attracting millions of visitors. In addition, “Lien Hoa Tinh Canh” was sold by artist Kim Duc in small versions and the proceeds were used to support the Youth Union in afforestation and environmental protection.
